Ciao!
Ciao! I’m Yue, a Chinese food designer based in Milan. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Product Design from the China Academy of Art and the Politecnico di Milano. Currently, I work as a freelance designer, focusing on design and art projects related to food culture and experiences. I’m committed to creating innovative food experiences that foster more genuine and healthy connections between people and what they eat.
As a Chinese designer working abroad, I continuously explore ways to deconstruct and reinterpret traditional cultural elements within a globalized context, aiming to present the unique charm of Chinese culture through a contemporary lens. At the same time, I actively build organic relationships with local communities, promoting intercultural exchange and mutual understanding while infusing food design with broader social meaning and cultural depth.
I currently co-run the food design duo tofoodesign, which explores the intersection of design and food by questioning and transforming food-related behaviors across cultural contexts through objects and experiences. I also host a Chinese-language podcast, 午夜干杯MidnightToast, where I talk about food culture, design, and art.
I’m a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English and Italian.
