Ripieno di Gioia
Ripieno di Gioia is a cultural and culinary workshop designed to celebrate the Chinese New Year through hands-on creativity and shared traditions. It offers participants a unique opportunity to explore the rich symbolism and festive rituals of this important holiday. Held in collaboration with the senior center Cascina San Paolo and Mare Culturale Urbano, with the support of APICAIA, the event has taken place twice, bringing together both older and younger generations.
The experience begins with a cultural introduction that delves into the stories, meanings, and historical roots of Chinese New Year. Participants then create traditional “fortune pouches” — symbols of prosperity and good luck — engaging with gestures and icons deeply rooted in Chinese customs. This is followed by a culinary workshop focused on making Chinese dumplings, where participants learn traditional folding techniques while uncovering the symbolic meanings hidden in each ingredient.
The workshop concludes with a communal meal, where everyone gathers to enjoy the dumplings they have made together — sharing not only food but also joy, warmth, and a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture.
